State healthcare crisis affects economic future of Solano County

State budget cuts in the Partnership HealthPlan of California has put thousands of Solano County residents at risk of losing access to health care services.

The impact of the budget cuts on employers and low to middle income families will be discussed July 30 in Fairfield by Jack Horn, executive director of the state organization, and Assemblywoman Lois Wolk.

Both speakers will participate in Solano Economic Development Corporation (EDC) monthly breakfast, 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfield.

“Partnership Health Plan is a vital non-profit organization in our communities,” Michael Ammann, president of Solano EDC said. “State funding issues may force the Partnership to close its doors and this would affect many thousands in our county.”

Partnership Health Plan provides care for uninsured children and low and middle-income residents. It has a track record of service and demonstrated it can save the state money by operating its programs as a non-profit.

To attend this event, contact Solano EDC, 707 864-1855. Cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

The event is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, NorthBay Healthcare and Sutter Health.

The monthly breakfast meetings are held by EDC to acquaint members and community leaders with critical issues that pertain to the economic development future of Solano County.

The series is underwritten by EDC Chairman Circle Members: The Reporter, Times Herald, Solano Garbage Company, Potrero Hills Landfill and Touro University.
